Oh hi, Monday. I had a busy weekend with several babysitting jobs, a dogsitting job, an engagement party, many loads of laundry, work for the two classes I’m taking, and trying to avoid getting caught in the many thunderstorms we had. The highlight of my work day today was definitely getting out of the office for a bit to get lunch with Cait. And also, coming home to this pretty face.

lab space

This is my equivalent of a lazy work outfit, picked out in a sleepy state after driving over four hours to get back from my conference. I found out I got a big grant I submitted a while back, so my campus will be getting two brand new biology labs! Great success! Also, three day weekend? I’m in.

traditions

Mexican night with my girls tonight! I can’t think of a better way to kick off the weekend than a Thursday night dinner out - which is why it’s a good thing we get dinner almost every Thursday night :) Is anyone planning anything fun for the weekend? I’m house/dog sitting this weekend but I’m hoping to still go do some things Saturday during the day and catch up on my reading and TV shows. And my sleep.

sole mates

I had dinner with Cait tonight and we both agreed that we need to stop being so busy. And stop missing important dates like the year anniversary of our blog. So happy belated little blog; we still love you. Also, I’m having a really hard time resisting wearing these shoes every darn day.

honey two tone

I saw these shoes on La Vie Petite last week and thought oh my, shoes that I can wear with brown and black. And when Cori responded back to my question regarding comfort that these shoes were a dream, I knew they had to be mine. That’s high praise, especially from somebody who’s about to have baby number four! These aren’t my only new shoes (I went a little crazy at Target this weekend), so my feet are officially ready for fall!

healthy choices

So…everybody else is busy listening to Gangnam Style, right? Because I may or may not have been going around telling everyone that I would pay good money to have a Gangnam Style workout video. And settled for running to it on repeat. In other news, I had a busy day today! I submitted a big grant I’ve been working on for several weeks(/months) and I volunteered to work at the sign-in table at a health fair that was held at our college. We had over 300 attendees! And my skirt was happy, since I’ve had it since high school and only worn it a couple times (shh don’t tell my mother!).

doing too much

To put it mildly, my work day was stressful. As in I didn’t take a lunch break. And I started biting my nails. I have three huge deadlines in the next couple weeks. And that is why I started off the day wearing a cardigan, but as my to-do list continued to get longer, I started to perspire, developed a headache, and ended up shedding the cardigan. Plus it was 90 degrees out.  And this is also why I decided I needed Leslie Knope to be my life coach. 
Mark: Honestly, Leslie, it’s going to be a long uphill battle. You are going to be super-annoyed with all the people who want you to fail. There is a sea of red tape, endless road blocks. So, yeah, I don’t know. I don’t know.
Leslie: Screw it. I’m gonna try to do it anyway.

swerve

Honestly, I intended to put a belt over this outfit but then it felt like pajamas when I first put it on without the belt and…I gave in to that sensation. I kind of like the simple sheath look of it without the belt though. I got a decent amount of work accomplished at work today, but more importantly, I realized that the Big Sean station on Pandora plays pretty much every song I’m currently crushing on for working out. Also, for further proof that I was just at work, please check out the faint grid on my foot from my  office chair (I have a bad habit of curling my foot up underneath me while I work.) ventures with a collar necklace

So Caitlin and I apparently both bought old school detached collars around the same time a while back. I’m a sucker for all things old fashioned, vintage-y, or handmade so this naturally made the cut when I was out thrift shopping. double dipping

I had to attend a Distinguished Alumni dinner Friday night for work so I pulled out this old dress from junior year of high school. And then I wore it again to church this morning. Did everybody have a good weekend? I was pretty lazy, but I did finally finish carting all my winter clothes downstairs and switching to my summer wardrobe. And it’s  a good thing because it’s supposed to be in the 80s all week.  Oh and official credit goes to dad, for stepping in to take these photos for me!
