Sorry for my extended absence, y’all! Spring break is upon us, which equals fun trips to NYC and Providence to see my baby sista and one of my lovely college amigas :D It was a fun fast-paced few days! Now to catch up on stuff around here before it’s back to work on Monday - ran a few errands and may or may not have picked a few goodies at Goodwill [hi, my name is Cait and I’m a goodwill-aholic?] before grabbing dinner with SBK. Recognize the foto location? I think it might be one of my faves so far :)

too tempting

So this post is rather false, because I wore this outfit on Friday, not today. And I told myself, Sarah Beth, just hold these photos in reserve, for a sick day, or a rainy day, or a day when you’re too busy to get pictures. Because I did just post about my new coat, after all. But I like this coat, and this blue-ish cardigan just too darn much to wait.  And maybe I’m just already ready for casual Friday again, even though it’s only Monday. Also - I live with two golden retrievers. Black pants beware.

teal dots

Now that I’ve chosen this title, I feel like it sort of sounds like somebody trying to say “tear drops” with a mouth full of marshmallows… I just recently found this cute little peplum polka dotted top and thought I was going to have to wait to wear in the spring, but the eerie winds and storms and convenient seventy degrees today changed that. In other news, I just found out we were awarded $200,000 for a grant I submitted right before Christmas break! Woot woot!

falling into you

Today was the first day back to work after break, and we had an in-service all day, which means sitting in a very cold auditorium that hadn’t been heated in a couple weeks. Fortunately, I made the wise choice to wear my Christmas gift from Cait today (thank you, thank you, girlie!). And I wore my jacket pretty much all day to stay warm. Also, apparently the end of vacations from work makes me want to mournfully sing Celine Dion songs from the 90s loudly all the way home. It’s probably a good thing I don’t carpool.

reiteration

Well Thanksgiving seems like a blur. I frantically put up Christmas decorations this weekend amidst hanging out with people and eating leftovers. My dog clearly does not remember the Christmas decoration process because she appeared disgruntled and unsettled by all the activity. And this outfit was sort of a no brainer combo that I used for church Sunday and again for work today. Always nice to be able to sneakily repeat outfits two days in a row, except for, you know, when you happen to usually post your outfits on the internet.

autumn breeze

I had my Duke class today and the instructor was wearing a gray wool sweater, ‘cause, you know, it’s almost November. Problem is, it was mid-80s today. (Which really made me want to label this post ‘season treason’ but I felt that was a bit melodramatic.) Not that I’m complaining, but dang, it’s warm. But at least I can keep enjoying skirts with bare legs! This skirt reminds me a lot of this other floaty skirt. Also, thanks to my brother for filling as my photographer today!

pinspiration

A lot of times when I’m bored with my clothes or just feeling lazy, I go virtual shopping on pinterest and then try to recreate a look. So if this outfit looks familiar, it’s because Kendi did it first. Today was a big day for me - I submitted the National Science Foundation grant I’ve been working like mad on the last few weeks, all 57 pages of it! Victory! p.s. sole mates

I had dinner with Cait tonight and we both agreed that we need to stop being so busy. And stop missing important dates like the year anniversary of our blog. So happy belated little blog; we still love you. Also, I’m having a really hard time resisting wearing these shoes every darn day.

cut it out

I definitely had to wear my cardigan today because this dress has this fun cut out on the back. I’ve been industriously trying to wear my florals and things with white in them these last few weeks before Labor Day. I had hoped to wear this on a weekend so I could show off the back detail but I’m running out of summer weekends, so work it is! At least I had my new thrifted cashmere cardigan to go with it.

nifty thrifty

Remember my vintage Pendleton skirt? Well, I saved the hem I removed from it and decided it would make a pretty sweet infinity scarf. Two pieces in one, for one low thrift price? Yes, please.  I was really busy today, and it was surprisingly hot. But I had pumpkin chocolate chip muffins for breakfast, my new office is now filled with plants, (including an orchid in bloom!), and I’m currently finishing my day by catching up on Newsroom (which is surprisingly, even dangerously good, btw). Hope everyone else is having a great Monday!
