What I thought was going to be the last big snowfall of the winter turned into a very cold, gross rain. But Cait, Meg, and I got together for our semi-regular weekly Mexican night, which brightened up the day significantly. As did this pop of kelly green. Something about the combination of mary jane flats and bows all around my neckline felt girlish today. But seeing as how my 25th birthday is in just a couple weeks, I will fully embrace the girlish.

I don’t know if you guys have noticed that the vast majority of my earrings are listed as being from a craft show. I go to this one local show every year and this very talented lady sells all kinds of jewelry. She uses leftover pieces to make earrings that she sells for $1 each(!). I usually buy about ten pairs from her each year because they’re all beautiful and super cheap. And this is why I need an earring organizer (it’s a lot more full these days!).

Happy Thanksgiving!! I think it goes without saying that I ate too much today! Pulling off an elaborate meal for this many people is a feat; I don’t know how my mom and grandmother always do it. I’m really thankful to have had a really great year in every way and to have such great people in my life. p.s. last year’s thanksgiving. Can’t believe Cait & I have been posting on here that long!

I had to go to an evening board meeting tonight to present a proposal I submitted last week so it was a long day. And I just realized I have neglected to use this clutch I bought a couple months ago for $2. My ipad fits in it! Convenient right? Also, I love this new blouse mom bought me. I can’t wait to wear it with skinny jeans and boots.

Marigold told me that she was deeply offended that I didn’t let her be in the pictures with Annabelle yesterday, so I graciously let her be in today’s pictures. (Just kidding, this little lady likes to pose even less than Annie.) One of my coworkers gave a lecture on the uses and history of herbs today during lunch, but other than that I was holed up in my office working on a National Science Foundation grant. Soooo much fun.

Today was our fall in-service for all faculty and staff, and somehow I got selected as one of the people asked to give a 15 minute speech/presentation in front of ALL my coworkers. So I went up on that stage and preached about thrift shopping. False. I talked about my day job, grant writing. But I was secretly tempted to tell everyone that my outfit was 3/4 thrifted and 1/4 outlet finds. I rounded out the work day with our 19th annual kick off barbecue meal with all my coworkers and their families. Now, let the school year begin!

No, I didn’t wear jeans to work on a Monday. Sadly. I’m at a conference for work so I’ve saved you a few casual outfits until I’m back home. Boot leg jeans seem to be eclipsed lately by skinny jeans - but I still love you boot leg! You make my thighs look oh so proportional (kinda). Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Yep, I have a blue version of this shirt too. I actually wore this shirt on a Friday a while back. Little did I know at the time that I would end up working until 9pm that night on a federal grant deadline! But at least I had my comfy denim skirt on for my long day? The good news is we did get the grant submitted - victory!

Guys, I know you’re tired of hearing me whine about it but I am stressed.out. My mom even took pity on me and packed my lunch for me last night (after I had a meltdown following accidentally using lemon extract instead of vanilla while baking.) And that’s a pretty big deal because I’ve been packing my own lunch since 4th grade. Plus she wrote me a little note and bought me a tiny tin of Nivea hand creme. So I might have a stressful workload right now, but at least I have a pretty awesome mama. Is it the weekend yet?

This outfit is admittedly really nautical but…I love it. The skirt was a matronly mid-calf length but mom hemmed it up for me. In the interest of full disclosure, I wore a navy blazer over this most of the day but it was too pretty a day to keep it on for pictures. Also, that setting may look picturesque but there are ticks everywhere. They find their way onto bathroom fixtures, dog’s noses, clothes hanging in my closet, and undisclosed family members’ behinds. Save me from the ticks, people. Save me. I vow to make this world a better place, one flushed tick at a time.
