Today, I’m dreaming of casual Friday, with these shots from last Friday’s outfit. I’m in Suffolk, Va for a work conference (for federal grant compliance training - so thrilling) so, alas, no pictures of my outfit today. But, hint, hint, I wore this dress today. Also, my dad gave me this Fossil belt as a special gift back in high school. I still love it today.

Well, hello! I accidentally haven’t blogged in six days. Oops. My grandmother was in a serious accident last week, so our household has been out of sorts. She’s still in the hospital, and needs another surgery, but she’s going to be ok. In other news, it’s been raining. A lot. And my mother had a birthday yesterday! We had an unexpectedly long evening out of town for her birthday dinner, courtesy of my brother’s car running out of fuel on the way to meet us. Ohhhh well. Thus is life. Tomorrow, I hear the sun will be shining. Things are looking up.

I’m always excited to have lunch with Caitlin, especially when I get to take pictures before the end of the day. I had a pretty productive day at work, which included a phone call with a guy from the National Endowment for the Arts about a proposal I wrote a few months ago. Also, I officially finished going through my closet and have all my summer clothes organized and ready to go for the season.

I wore this yesterday for casual Friday and surprisingly it seemed like a big hit, judging from the many comments I got. We’re having lots of beautiful spring days around here! I went to a bbq cook-off briefly today and then spent the rest of the day doing laundry/chores and a really long walk outside. Hope everyone is having a great weekend too! (Also, my necklace was designed for Michelle Obama. Say whattt. It comes with a ribbon so you can wear it long or tie it up short. Thanks, Mom!)

This is a pretty casual outfit that I threw a belt over to dress up. Well actually, mostly to avoid tucking my blouse in, which starts to get tedious after about your third bathroom trip of the day. I kept thinking today was Thursday, which was disappointing, especially since today was supposed to be a snow day. Turned out to be a cold rain day. Oh well, can’t win them all.

It was very fortuitous timing that I had lunch with Cait today, and that we selected a restaurant with a covered walkway. Otherwise, you would have missed out on a rare sighting of SBK attempting pattern mixing, thanks to the coldest rain ever. Note to self: stock new coat with gloves. I’ve been working on a big grant deadline this week, but I’m hoping to submit tomorrow. Wish me luck!

If you must go to work on Monday, a two hour delay eases the transition into the work week. So all things considered, it was a good day. And yet I hear it’s supposed to be seventy degrees by Wednesday. A respite from tights may be in my future?! I’m spending my evening catching up on Downton Abbey and reading. Anybody read any good books lately?

Yellow shoes?? Yes, please. The primary colors here remind me of crayons, and the brown leather on the backs remind me of elbow patches on men’s corduroy jackets. I wore this to work yesterday for casual Friday - and because I’m busy moving to my very own office! So excited! I’ve been sharing one office with two other people and we’re all moving to a different building where we’ll each have our own office. Further confirmation that I’m an adult? Oh gosh.
