I had to attend our annual Distinguished Alumni dinner last night, which is a fairly fancy event at the country club here in town. My Michael Kors outfit even made my brother’s (very successful) Instagram account. But this dress isn’t just Michael Kors - its bargain Michael Kors since I only paid $9.99 for it. Oh yeahhh.

fast track

What I thought was going to be the last big snowfall of the winter turned into a very cold, gross rain. But Cait, Meg, and I got together for our semi-regular weekly Mexican night, which brightened up the day significantly. As did this pop of kelly green. Something about the combination of mary jane flats and bows all around my neckline felt girlish today. But seeing as how my 25th birthday is in just a couple weeks, I will fully embrace the girlish.

the first

Happy New Year, everyone! Alas, alas, this means I return to work tomorrow. But I’ve had a great break and at least work will mean returning to a normal schedule (i.e. eating lunch before 2:30pm and waking up before noon. oops.) My earrings in this post are particularly special and are made from vintage sheet music. And as you can see, can’t get enough of my new blue skinny jeans (thanks, mom!).

comfy cozy

I’m not being a very faithful blogger lately. So, “sorry 4 the wait” (-Lil Wayne). Got some new thrifted finds in this outfit including this sweater, the earrings, and the clutch, and my mama got me these pants for Christmas. I’m being pretty lazy my last few days before returning to work and am catching up on the latest episodes of Dexter, putting away Christmas decorations, and reading this book.

full house

My brother doesn’t usually say much about my outfits but today he was like, “That’s pretty cool how your socks show above your boots…Actually, that’s pretty sick.” Ha. I took these directly before leaving for my grandparents’ house for Thanksgiving. There’s only 8 of us in the house tonight but we’ll have 17 for the main event tomorrow. Oh, and a whole pack of dogs. As long as my dog doesn’t steal my grandfather’s prized turkey leg (again) this year, we should be good.

let’s go…

This year is continuing to be a good year for my lovely alma mater’s colors, and therefore for the frequency with which I can find them pretty much anywhere I go shopping nowadays :D I used to snatch up anything either maroon or orange because they were hard to find, but now we’re getting spoiled for choice! So great :D I’m heading to bburg tonight for the football game straight from work, so gotta make sure I’m dressed mostly appropriately for both… I feel overdressed for the game, but maybe I’ll stay warm at least? Got my hat/gloves/scarf too, just in case!

burgundy & bagels

It was back to work today now that the worst of the hurricane is over. I hope everyone is staying safe! I spent my unexpected day off yesterday running some errands and reading A Farewell to Arms (I remember now why Hemingway isn’t my favorite). I had a ton to do today at work, but there were lots of free bagels. And I was really comfy in this outfit. But mostly the bagels.

autumn breeze

I had my Duke class today and the instructor was wearing a gray wool sweater, ‘cause, you know, it’s almost November. Problem is, it was mid-80s today. (Which really made me want to label this post ‘season treason’ but I felt that was a bit melodramatic.) Not that I’m complaining, but dang, it’s warm. But at least I can keep enjoying skirts with bare legs! This skirt reminds me a lot of this other floaty skirt. Also, thanks to my brother for filling as my photographer today!

the violet hour

I had to go to an evening board meeting tonight to present a proposal I submitted last week so it was a long day. And I just realized I have neglected to use this clutch I bought a couple months ago for $2. My ipad fits in it! Convenient right? Also, I love this new blouse mom bought me. I can’t wait to wear it with skinny jeans and boots.

anything goes

Sometimes, after I pick up face wash and shampoo in Walmart, I cut through the clothing on my way to the Yoplait yogurt. And that’s how I ended up with this cotton sundress. Is everyone else suffering from insane temperatures?? My poor dog has quickly learned to pull towards the houses that have sprinklers running so she returns from every walk soaked. I think she has the right idea to beat the heat though.
