This was my casual Friday outfit, and when I took these pictures Friday afternoon, a storm was rolling in, thunder was booming in the distance, and I was urging mom to hurry because it was going to start pouring before we get any shots. And because, you know, we could get struck by lightening. All in all a good weekend spent dogsitting, hitting up a discarded book sale at the library, making cookies, and watching Martha Marcy May Marlene.

It’s finally the weekend, hooray! I’ve got a whole list of things I feel really compelled to get done over the next couple of days. That always happens when I’m sitting at work trying to get stuff knocked out - I’m thinking of all this other stuff that would be so much fun to be working on instead. At least I have two whole days [?!?] I can take advantage of - sounds fine by me! Also, hooray for new shoes! That’s always a cause for celebration :D

These pictures are actually from a week or so ago, but if I had taken pictures today, you would have seen that it was pouring down snow & sleet here today. Reports of lots of wrecks, and an early closing from work. I made it home safely, but I was sad to have to cancel girls’ night out tonight. (Also, I cannot believe I’m still using the words “sweater” and “snow” in April.)

One upside to this chilly spring we’re having is I’m getting remarkable good out of my floral trench coat, which is typically only worn for a couple brief weeks each spring. Also, I’m excited to finally get some new black heels! My last pair has a busted heel, plus these are all cushiony and padded. Bonus. Doesn’t it feel like it should be at least Thursday already? I did make the most of today, finishing up this book and running in the daylight.

It’s still cold. I’m still protesting by wearing clothes that are more suited to warm weather, because that totally works :D Today was fairly busy, which is always good for making the day go faster. I took my yearbook class for a celebratory lunch at the mexican restaurant in town since we’re done with all the design stuff, hooray! Maybe we should just do that every day instead of have class now… hmm. Also, gotta give SBK a shoutout since yesterday was her birthday! Gettin’ old like the rest of us :D

I’m pretty committed to spring already, even if it hasn’t fully committed to southern Virginia just yet - it was 32 degrees on my way to work this morning. But I’m busting out the florals and the mint colored shoes anyway. And Cait’s right - we should take pictures at Pigs R Us (the best bbq in these here parts!) more often, because the side parking lot is pretty perfect for pictures. Also - only a few hours left to enter our Shabby Apple giveaway!

My grandparents gave this top to my mom for Christmas, and I’ve been intent on borrowing since I saw it - its made of a breezy, flowy material (bonus: it never needs ironing) and I think it could be worn in a much dressier way than this or with jeans. I had a pretty chill day today at work, although I did start working on a grant for a new score board for the local baseball field. You just never know what you might end up learning about when you’re a grant writer.

I feel like my wardrobe is increasingly becoming comprised of clothing from Target. And I think I’m ok with that :D Target has cute stuff! I hear the arguments in favor of buying investment pieces or whatever, and I get that to some degree, but I feel like I get tired of stuff too frequently to make that kind of commitment to a piece of clothing, haha.

This was one of those happy accident sort of layering combinations I decided might work together… most of the time they don’t but I think this one turned out pretty well, at least based on the number of compliments I received at work today [two vs the usual zero, haha]. I’m just a fan of obnoxiously ruffly blouses, so I think any way I’ve worn it has made me happy :D Always good to have happiness-inducing outfits, especially on the Monday after a week-long vacation!
