I have returned from camping and am back in the office. Reluctantly. I went kayaking and hung out in a hammock and read a book a day while I was away. Today was hectic - thought I was going to be catching up on emails and office work, but instead was in and out of meetings most of the day. But at least I had a new skirt to face the work week with!

Back to Monday again! It was so hard to get motivated today, especially after hanging out with my sister and cousin all weekend. And with all the late afternoon rain, all I wanted to do was curl up somewhere and take a nap. At least SB and I got to meet up for lunch this afternoon, which was a definite improvement on my day :) And my dress has pockets! And only four more days till I get to go to the beach!! It’s the little things :)

Back from my long weekend, and still not catching up on office work, because I had my Duke Nonprofit class all day today. The topic today was sustainable strategic planning, and I’d like to say it was my favorite class yet buttt it was not. But, I finally convinced my dad to sign up for a few of the classes too so I got to spend most of the day with him. It’s not every day that a father and daughter work within the same professional circles (we both work in higher education) in a very small town. I’m pretty fond of it.

Halfway through the busy-ness of this week! I think I’m reasonably ahead of the game, too, so that’s good news. I can’t wait for Saturday afternoon to get here so I can have a little bit of a break, and also because I have some college friends coming to visit me for the weekend! Today, I’m dreaming of casual Friday, with these shots from last Friday’s outfit. I’m in Suffolk, Va for a work conference (for federal grant compliance training - so thrilling) so, alas, no pictures of my outfit today. But, hint, hint, I wore this dress today. Also, my dad gave me this Fossil belt as a special gift back in high school. I still love it today.

I found these boots in a consignment store over the weekend. They look like they’ve only been worn enough to get them broken in - since I brought them home and cleaned them up, they look pretty much brand new! Too bad it’s almost the end of boot-wearing weather… but that’s ok, since I intend on wearing these for a while :)

I originally wore this dress today in pseudo-mourning of having graduated from college two years ago this weekend, since that’s what I wore then. I always think of this as my watercolor dress, but I think I’m gonna have to rename it my compliment dress: coworkers and students both, allll day long, were like “I loooove that dress!” “You look so pretty!” “Where did you get that?! It’s soooo cute!” Definite self-esteem booster :) I’m always excited when one of the kids tells me they like what I’m wearing, too!

Check out the cutest little vintage Coach purse ya ever did see that I scored for five bucks at Goodwill earlier this week. I kinda like it. Plus it matches my shoes. Whose black toes also happen to match my dress. Happy coincidence. I had dinner tonight with three of my best friends, which was pretty great. And please excuse my large and unsightly bug bite on my leg. Sign of the season.

Today felt like one of those average, run of the mill, business as usual type days. Went to work as usual, went for a run after work, did some laundry. But sometimes, it’s nice to have a day with relatively low stress. My dad is back home, after spending over a week out of town, taking care of my grandmother, who finally just got out of the hospital. It’s good to have him home, and to know my grandmother is beginning the recovery process.

Today was another busy day, but made better by getting Mexican for lunch with SB, and again for dinner at a trade show I had to work tonight! Any day with multiple Mexican meals is a good one in my book :D Also, any day involving spontaneous dance parties at said trade shows makes it pretty awesome too! I’m so glad tomorrow’s Friday, because it sure seemed like it should have been Friday today. But Monday and Tuesday felt like they were swapped, so I guess it’s just been one of those weird weeks where your days never seem to match up for whatever reason.
