Halfway through the busy-ness of this week! I think I’m reasonably ahead of the game, too, so that’s good news. I can’t wait for Saturday afternoon to get here so I can have a little bit of a break, and also because I have some college friends coming to visit me for the weekend! So excited for a mini reunion :)

Today begins the epic marathon of closing ceremonies for the next four days, for which I have become the unofficial official photographer, hooray! If the stress level of this is any indication, I will never become a photographer for events like that. Literally one shot to get your shot, no redos. Looking through what I took, they seemed to turn out ok, so fingers crossed there won’t be any craziness popping up when I start editing next week! I’m using all these events as an excuse to dress up… haven’t worn this dress in a looong time but it’s so twirly and wonderful, I should definitely wear it more often :D

I had to attend our annual Distinguished Alumni dinner last night, which is a fairly fancy event at the country club here in town. My Michael Kors outfit even made my brother’s (very successful) Instagram account. But this dress isn’t just Michael Kors - its bargain Michael Kors since I only paid $9.99 for it. Oh yeahhh.

I originally wore this dress today in pseudo-mourning of having graduated from college two years ago this weekend, since that’s what I wore then. I always think of this as my watercolor dress, but I think I’m gonna have to rename it my compliment dress: coworkers and students both, allll day long, were like “I loooove that dress!” “You look so pretty!” “Where did you get that?! It’s soooo cute!” Definite self-esteem booster :) I’m always excited when one of the kids tells me they like what I’m wearing, too!

Aside from several hours when I was in meetings, I spent the majority of my day trying to input a grant narrative I had written into an online form that kept giving me error messages. Trying being the operative word. Irks me to no end when you end up spending hours on something that should have been a half hour task. Ohhh well. In other news, I’ve made a resolution to try to start weekend chores (i.e. massive quantities of laundry) during the week so this post is late thanks to that. But! less to do over the weekend! Great success.

It’s finally the weekend, hooray! I’ve got a whole list of things I feel really compelled to get done over the next couple of days. That always happens when I’m sitting at work trying to get stuff knocked out - I’m thinking of all this other stuff that would be so much fun to be working on instead. At least I have two whole days [?!?] I can take advantage of - sounds fine by me! Also, hooray for new shoes! That’s always a cause for celebration :D

It’s been a while since SBK and I have taken mall parking lot lunchtime fotos - always something fun to revisit! Especially now that spring is here and the grass is all green and lush [so lush they should probably get on that with the lawnmower… haha] - nice color contrast! You ever have days where you’re running all over the place doing stuff so much that it seems like you haven’t done anything at all? That would be my day. I did get to sit in on a skype conference with a British guy this afternoon and have I mentioned how much I love British accents?! So wonderful :D

I wore this yesterday for casual Friday and surprisingly it seemed like a big hit, judging from the many comments I got. We’re having lots of beautiful spring days around here! I went to a bbq cook-off briefly today and then spent the rest of the day doing laundry/chores and a really long walk outside. Hope everyone is having a great weekend too! (Also, my necklace was designed for Michelle Obama. Say whattt. It comes with a ribbon so you can wear it long or tie it up short. Thanks, Mom!)

I had to go to a meeting with a group that grants the college a lot of money each year, so I tried to look a tad dressier today. I had a cardigan over this, but I ditched it by mid-afternoon because it got hot. There was a moment when I was driving home from work with the windows down and my hair whipping around, listening to this song and I felt completely blissful and so happy for it to be sunny and summery. Here’s hoping for more of the same.

So I had this meeting with this dude today about a grant and when I asked him what I could do to help he said “just help me massage the verbiage.” … So that’s what I’ll be busy doing tomorrow - massaging the grant narrative this guy wrote. Otherwise known as editing/writing. Also, it was really windy today, which explains the dramatic hair fling in the next picture.
