These pictures are from last week, but I did wear this outfit out to dinner tonight! Just pretend I took these on our boardwalk with the ocean behind me and my skin significantly more tan :) I wish I could stay here indefinitely, just reading [halfway through my library stack of 8… should probably slow it down, ha] and soaking up all the sunshine I can. Best place in the world!

I missed this skirt! It’s been quite a while since I’ve worn it… think I’ll have to change that trend :) And now that I’ve linked way too many ways I’ve worn it previously, I think I’ll have to find a color other than blue/grey to wear with it… red is difficult to match I think. Maybe I just need to think about it a little harder, buuuut why mess with a good thing?! Haha. Only two more days till vacation! That is a very good thing :D

I got these shoes back in the fall, and have been patiently waiting for warm weather to break them out. Definitely got some compliments on them today, which never hurts! I’ve had a really stressful week, so having a fun, summery feeling outfit helped me feel a bit better.

Well, the last event of the year can be checked off the list! I know all the seniors are so excited to graduate and head off to college. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous that they have all that ahead of them to experience, haha. College was some good times :D This year’s graduation was better than last year, both weather- and speaker-wise, but since I actually got to know a lot more of the seniors this year, it was definitely more bittersweet than last year, too. Also, I think my camera and I need a break from each other after this week - I lost track of how many memory cards I went through from all the pictures I took. I have a feeling next week Photoshop and I are gonna be gettin’ real cozy :)

I had to attend our annual Distinguished Alumni dinner last night, which is a fairly fancy event at the country club here in town. My Michael Kors outfit even made my brother’s (very successful) Instagram account. But this dress isn’t just Michael Kors - its bargain Michael Kors since I only paid $9.99 for it. Oh yeahhh.

Here’s last Friday’s outfit - which seems like a long time ago now! I had a busy weekend between house/dog sitting, day trips, Mother’s Day, my brother returning home from college for the summer, and a mini family reunion with uncles, aunt, cousins, and grandparents. This dress reminds me of my mom, who loves denim in any form, and always has at least one denim dress and skirt in her closet.

Well, hello! I accidentally haven’t blogged in six days. Oops. My grandmother was in a serious accident last week, so our household has been out of sorts. She’s still in the hospital, and needs another surgery, but she’s going to be ok. In other news, it’s been raining. A lot. And my mother had a birthday yesterday! We had an unexpectedly long evening out of town for her birthday dinner, courtesy of my brother’s car running out of fuel on the way to meet us. Ohhhh well. Thus is life. Tomorrow, I hear the sun will be shining. Things are looking up.

I had the privilege of having lunch today with a great supporter of our college, who just happened to celebrate his 96th birthday yesterday. He’s a WWII vet and his grandmother was born in 1806. He told us stories about his war experiences, what it was like growing up in North Carolina, and recited multiple poems and a wealth of facts and dates throughout lunch. I wish I had his memory. In other news, I had my eyes dilated at my annual eye exam (and was told by a coworker that I looked like a panther due to my huge black pupils). And I gave a presentation, tried to balance an impossible budget for a grant, ate cheesecake (at said lunch), and caught up on Mad Men.

You know what really makes me happy? Being able to leave for work in the morning with bare legs and short sleeves and not being cold at any point during the day. It’s so wonderful :D Two days in a row too!? I also really like my new sandals I bought last week…. get ready, you’ll probably be seeing them a lot soon!

Guess who got a new boss today? This girl. It’s always slightly nerve wracking to get a new supervisor, but I think it’ll be a positive change. I also had dinner with Cait tonight, and I love that we both managed to sneak in some black & white polka dots. Also, (way behind the times but because I literally just saw it on TV while typing this) have you guys seen the Gangnam Style pistachio commercial? It makes me almost as happy as this goldfish singing No Diggity. It’s the little things, guys.
