Today, I’m dreaming of casual Friday, with these shots from last Friday’s outfit. I’m in Suffolk, Va for a work conference (for federal grant compliance training - so thrilling) so, alas, no pictures of my outfit today. But, hint, hint, I wore this dress today. Also, my dad gave me this Fossil belt as a special gift back in high school. I still love it today.

minty spring green

This was my casual Friday outfit, and when I took these pictures Friday afternoon, a storm was rolling in, thunder was booming in the distance, and I was urging mom to hurry because it was going to start pouring before we get any shots. And because, you know, we could get struck by lightening. All in all a good weekend spent dogsitting, hitting up a discarded book sale at the library, making cookies, and watching Martha Marcy May Marlene.

minty clean feeling

I wore this outfit on Friday, and took these shots right before I hit the road to visit one of my best friends from college (hi, Caroline!!) who was visiting Duke Law school. It was so great to reminisce about our college days, and where we are three years later. In other news, Sunday after lunch I was attacked by a massive case of spring cleaning fever and got rid of three huge boxes of clothes. No more closet injuries trying to shove clothes around!

too tempting

So this post is rather false, because I wore this outfit on Friday, not today. And I told myself, Sarah Beth, just hold these photos in reserve, for a sick day, or a rainy day, or a day when you’re too busy to get pictures. Because I did just post about my new coat, after all. But I like this coat, and this blue-ish cardigan just too darn much to wait.  And maybe I’m just already ready for casual Friday again, even though it’s only Monday. Also - I live with two golden retrievers. Black pants beware.

mama possum’s

To get you (even more) pumped for the weekend now that we’ve survived to Thursday night, I thought I’d finally post what I wore last Saturday. We went on a short day trip nearby, saw some sights, picked up some chicken salad, and ate dinner at the one and only Mama Possum’s. I may or may not have concluded the evening with a milk shake. Also, I’m really digging this chambray shirt this year.

surfacing

Here’s casual Friday’s outfit, which I once again failed to get posted on Friday. This was probably not the best choice for yesterday because it was cold. I can’t fit a coat over this jacket and my ankles were a tad chilly. But I persevered. Everyone having a good weekend? I’m off to an engagement party tonight for a high school friend whose wedding I’m going to be in this summer. And my brother heads back to college tomorrow so I need to squeeze in a few more hours with him.

the first

Happy New Year, everyone! Alas, alas, this means I return to work tomorrow. But I’ve had a great break and at least work will mean returning to a normal schedule (i.e. eating lunch before 2:30pm and waking up before noon. oops.) My earrings in this post are particularly special and are made from vintage sheet music. And as you can see, can’t get enough of my new blue skinny jeans (thanks, mom!).

comfy cozy

I’m not being a very faithful blogger lately. So, “sorry 4 the wait” (-Lil Wayne). Got some new thrifted finds in this outfit including this sweater, the earrings, and the clutch, and my mama got me these pants for Christmas. I’m being pretty lazy my last few days before returning to work and am catching up on the latest episodes of Dexter, putting away Christmas decorations, and reading this book.

Well, I meant to post this Friday. And then Saturday. And now it’s Sunday. Oops. As you saw in Cait’s post from Friday, we went with the black skinnies and cowboy boots theme for casual Friday lunch. And to celebrate our escape from work for a much needed Christmas break! I’m off to see a Christmas decorated Biltmore estate tomorrow and then will be welcoming my brother home Tuesday.

full house

My brother doesn’t usually say much about my outfits but today he was like, “That’s pretty cool how your socks show above your boots…Actually, that’s pretty sick.” Ha. I took these directly before leaving for my grandparents’ house for Thanksgiving. There’s only 8 of us in the house tonight but we’ll have 17 for the main event tomorrow. Oh, and a whole pack of dogs. As long as my dog doesn’t steal my grandfather’s prized turkey leg (again) this year, we should be good.
