Guess who got a new boss today? This girl. It’s always slightly nerve wracking to get a new supervisor, but I think it’ll be a positive change. I also had dinner with Cait tonight, and I love that we both managed to sneak in some black & white polka dots. Also, (way behind the times but because I literally just saw it on TV while typing this) have you guys seen the Gangnam Style pistachio commercial? It makes me almost as happy as this goldfish singing No Diggity. It’s the little things, guys.

What I thought was going to be the last big snowfall of the winter turned into a very cold, gross rain. But Cait, Meg, and I got together for our semi-regular weekly Mexican night, which brightened up the day significantly. As did this pop of kelly green. Something about the combination of mary jane flats and bows all around my neckline felt girlish today. But seeing as how my 25th birthday is in just a couple weeks, I will fully embrace the girlish.

Oh hey, Monday. I did not miss you. Did everyone have a good weekend? I babysat the cutest baby in the world, started watching House of Cards, starting reading a book about Queen Victoria and Albert, ate dinner at Pigs-R-Us, and went for several cold walks/runs. And now it’s back to work, beginning with a big presentation today. P.S. this dress in warmer weather. P.P.S. if you didn’t click on the cutest baby link you’re missing out. I can’t handle the cuteness.

I didn’t intend to have Annie make a guest appearance, but she invited herself when she unlatched the front door and came bolting outside. And she knew she wasn’t supposed to, as you can tell from her hang-dog expression. I had a successful day at work today and submitted my grant! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that that involved lots of collating, getting the five required copies ready for mailing. ps - how I wore this skirt over the summer.

It was very fortuitous timing that I had lunch with Cait today, and that we selected a restaurant with a covered walkway. Otherwise, you would have missed out on a rare sighting of SBK attempting pattern mixing, thanks to the coldest rain ever. Note to self: stock new coat with gloves. I’ve been working on a big grant deadline this week, but I’m hoping to submit tomorrow. Wish me luck!

So remember how I said I didn’t feel well on Monday? Welllll I ended up having to call in sick on Tuesday and Wednesday so I’m sorry for my absence this week. After a trip to Urgent Care and lots of sleep, I’m feeling better. Also, I’m so in love with my new coat! I’ve really been wanting a brown coat for work since I have a gray and black one. This was an early birthday present from Mom and Dad, and judging by how much I love my red J.Crew coat they got for me a few years ago, I think this one will also serve me well. (Also, I know, I know. That adds up to four winter coats. I really like coats. Like really.)

Here’s my (belated) Valentine’s day outfit. I also wore this dress last year for V day. Everyone have a good weekend? I have a pretty terrible cold, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying a concert on Friday - The Band Perry & The Rascal Flatts! - and dogsitting three dogs all weekend.

I found out pretty early today that I got another grant today for around $56,000! So I did a little happy dance in my work chair and then returned to working on my current grant application. This outfit was really comfy, except for a minor wardrobe malfunction - my tights are old and the elastic in the waistband is kaput. Except I didn’t know that until I was walking down the hall at work and felt my tights sliding down my bootie. It was a long day of covertly hauling them back up. Let’s just say I was relieved to get them off when I got home.

I love when I can figure out a way to wear a sleeveless dress in the winter time, especially since I just got this dress and didn’t want to wait until it warmed up to wear it (I mean…it has pockets!). This turtle neck’s gotten a surprise couple of outings the last couple weeks, courtesy of cold weather. Also, I stole this corny but cute title from here.

If you must go to work on Monday, a two hour delay eases the transition into the work week. So all things considered, it was a good day. And yet I hear it’s supposed to be seventy degrees by Wednesday. A respite from tights may be in my future?! I’m spending my evening catching up on Downton Abbey and reading. Anybody read any good books lately?
